Websites for the budget conscious
The exact manner of setting up an email client to download emails from your webspace account’s mail server will vary according to the email client. The general priciples will be similar and the following values shown below should be used. In these examples a mydomain.com domain is used, if you have a different domain type, such as mydomain.co.uk, use that domain type instead of .com – in either case replace “mydomain” with your own domain name.
Incoming mail, select POP or POP3 rather than IMAP.
– mail server name – set to: mail.mydomain.com
– set the port number to 995
– login name – set to: use the email address you used when creating the email account in cPanel, for example myemail@mydomain.com
– password – use the password you used when creating the email account in cPanel
– set connection security to “SSL” or “SSL/TLS” and authentication method to “Normal password” or “Authentication required”
Outgoing mail server (or SMTP settings).
– outgoing server name, you can use mail.mydomain.com or smtp.googlemail.com
– for mail.mydomain.com >>set the port number to 465 and set connection security as for incoming server
– for smtp.googlemail.com >> set the port number to 25 and set connection security to “STARTTLS, if available” and “Password transmitted insecurely”
